Email reminders the easy way

30 12 07 - 21:36 - Bookmark this post

I saw this service on a few other blogs and I must say I am intrigued by it. 3mindme.com is an email reminder service. You basically email a reminder to yourself at “tomorrow@3mindme.com” or “jan5th@3mindme.com” or “nexttuesday@3mindme.com” and it’ll forward whatever you sent back to you at the specified time. David Barret, the creator of the service has just started this and is looking for feedback. So any advice, tips and compliments are welcome!

Here is a similar service which has been around for a while: "iTickleMe Email Tickler System":http://www.poingo.com/email-tickler-system.html
With this email reminder service you send email ticklers to, for example, 3d@poingo.com, and the email returns to you in 3 days. It supports 1-60 day, 1-52 week, 1-12 month and 1 year intervals.

what time zone does it work on?

This is pretty cool. Very similar as another free service (for now) called Jott at the domain of the same name. With Jott, you use your phone and it emails you. Very cool. But if I’m at my computer, this could be a good alternative.

Thanks for the tip.

I know each person has their own GTD system. Do you prefer email or mobile reminders? And perhaps why?

I get appointment reminders already on my phone, which is also a pda. I use iTickleMe more for tasks and follow-ups I need to do at some time in the future. Since most of these things are in an email somewhere, it is quite natural to copy the iTickleMe server and get a perfectly timed reminder, along with the original context of the email.

www.iwantsandy.com helps me in this, and it integrates with my calendar, Jott, plus I can cc: Sandy in any message I send to others, which they can get reminded of, too.

That said, the 3mindme format is pretty simple and lightweight and would be perfect for simple reminders.

Hey there, I’m the guy behind 3mindme. Glad to see you like it! Let me know if I can help make it more useful in any way (dbarrett@quinthar.com). Thanks!
